Slime Lab
Maker: Jessica
By far the most popular and icky feature of the Halloween Makerspace was the Slime Lab, where the chemistry of gooey polymers was explored in glittery, lumpy. fluffy, and new creative ways. Makers used resources and recipes from far and wide to create their own signature slimes while engaging with elements, molecules, and chemical properties.Besides being a tactile magnet for exploration, the lessons learned became a surprisingly key starting point for a much deeper understanding of the materials used in the makerspace (i.e. 3d print materials, adhesives, flux, carbon fiber), other projects (Kombucha is a biological polymer), in education and in the real world. These meaningful connections continue to grow and inspire.
Here are some links and resources – We will be making more and so can you – O-chem is fun…really!
